Practice Information

Accidents and Emergencies
In the case of an emergency or accident always telephone the surgery first on 9764 1617, and you will be advised on the most appropriate course of action.
Appointments
We prefer patients to make appointments wherever possible. As we are a large clinic we can offer a choice of either male or female Doctors at most times. Patients with appointments will naturally be given priority over casual callers. In cases of emergency or urgent medical care, patients will be seen immediately without an appointment. Should you require more time with your Doctor please inform the receptionist to make a long appointment. In the case of an acute illness, particularly a child, please let the receptionist know.

New patients have the option to download and complete paperwork before attending their appointment.

Test Results
The introduction of Victorian and Federal Government Privacy Legislation in 2002 creates certain legal obligations for doctors as to how personal health information may be conveyed to patients. In line with these requirements it is necessary for patients to make an appointment to see their doctor for follow up of all test results. This includes those of a routine nature, unless otherwise advised by the treating doctor.
Repeat Prescriptions
Legal constraints and Best Practice Procedures dictate that a consultation is made for all repeat prescriptions.

Telephoning Your Doctor
You can contact Doctors in this practice by telephone during surgery hours. A message will be taken when the Doctor concerned is with another patient or unavailable.
Referral Policy
It is a legal requirement under the Medicare Act that a referral to a specialist only be given after due consideration by the treating physician. This obviously requires the physical attendance to the practice.
Updating Your Records
Please let the receptionist know if you have changed your Name, Address or Telephone Number/s. If your child has a different surname to yours, please make the appointment under the appropriate names. If you have a new baby, ask our receptionist to help you to register your child with Medicare.
Complaints and Suggestions
We constantly strive to give you the best possible holistic care and attention. From time to time this practice invites patients to complete a questionnaire on their views of the practice and how it could be improved. These questionnaires are completely confidential and help us to improve our services. We endeavour to provide the best possible care according to AMA ethics.

If you have any suggestions or are unhappy about any aspects of our service, please ask to see the Office Manager who will be more than happy to listen to you. Patients wishing to make their complaint to an outside source can contact the Office of The Australian Information Commissioner, on 1300 363 992.
