Women's Health

We do women’s health!

  • Regular cervical screening saves lives by detecting changes before cervical cancer. For most women, cervical screening can now be performed using a self collected sample
  • Breast awareness matters. Approximately 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Knowing what is normal for you can help detect changes early
  • Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women, making regular health checks important
  • Menopause is a natural life stage, but that doesn’t mean you have to live with troublesome symptoms. A range of effective treatments and management options are available.
  • Endometriosis affects nearly 1 million Australians. Because symptoms can vary widely, diagnosis can often be delayed for many years.
  • Polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS, previously known as PCOS) affects around 1 in 8 women. A healthy lifestyle and personalised hormone management can help to reduce symptoms and improve long term health.
  • Contraception isn’t one-size-fits-all

CONTRACEPTION

Our GPs provide personalised contraceptive counselling to help you choose the method that best fits your lifestyle, health, and reproductive goals. We also offer confidential care for all aspects of reproductive health, including options counselling and guidance on family planning, ensuring you have the support and information you need to make informed decisions.

Mirena Insertion

The Mirena is a hormonal intrauterine device (IUD) that provides effective long-term reversible contraception and can also help manage heavy periods. Dr Caroline Macindoe can perform insertion and provide ongoing advice and monitoring.

Implanon Insertion

The Implanon is a small, long-acting (three years), reversible contraceptive implant placed under the skin of the upper arm. Our GPs can insert and remove Implanons, helping you manage your reproductive health conveniently and effectively.

PREGNANCY CARE

We provide comprehensive care from the moment you start to consider pregnancy, all the way through to providing shared antenatal care in partnership with local hospitals and midwives for low-risk patients.

This shared care model allows you to receive regular pregnancy check-ups with your GP while still accessing specialist hospital services when needed.

We also provide postnatal care for both mother and baby, including feeding support, maternal wellbeing and ongoing health checks.

UNPLANNED PREGNANCY SUPPORT

Facing an unplanned pregnancy can be overwhelming. Our doctors are here to offer confidential, non-judgemental and compassionate guidance. We provide non-directive counselling to help you understand your options in a way that aligns with your own values and beliefs. Medical termination of pregnancy is available up to 9 weeks, subject to clinical assessment. Our priority is to support you with clear information and respectful care.

MENOPAUSE

We offer guidance and management options for common symptoms of menopause such as hot flushes, mood changes, sleep disturbances, and bone health, tailored to your individual needs.

Management may include lifestyle advice, menopause hormone therapy, non-hormonal treatment options and ongoing support.

We also focus on long-term health, including bone health, cardiovascular health and preventive care, to help you stay healthy throughout the menopause transition and beyond.
